1) Do you need a prescription? No,
Minoxidil is FDA approved and safe enough for over the counter medication
without a prescription.
2) Does Minoxidil work for frontal baldness?
The studies performed on Minoxidil were not for frontal baldness, meaning it
has not been clearly established or proven for frontal baldness at this
point in time.
3) How do I apply Minoxidil? Apply
Minoxidil once in the morning and once in the evening using the provided
dropper to the area on the scalp which is thinning or bald. See directions
for specific instructions.
4) How does Minoxidil work?
Minoxidil significantly increases the size of the hair follicles, therefore
reactivating and revitalizing for a greater volume of the follicle, and an
overall thickening and strengthing of the new hairs produced.
5) What if I stop using Minoxidil?
If Minoxidil is discontinued, the new hair which has been regrown will be
lost within 12 months, and the original pattern of hair loss will continue.
6) What is the difference between the 5%
strength and the 2% strength? The Minoxidil 5% strength has been
proven through clinical trials to regrow more hair in 45% of MEN then using
the 2%. Furthermore, men have experienced faster results using the 5%
strength over the regular strength.
7) Why can't women use extra strength 5%
Minoxidil? The reason for this is simply because clinical trials
show that there is no difference in hair regrowth in using the 5% strength
over the 2% for women, this will only increase the possibility of side
effects.
8) Who can use minoxidil? The
Minoxidil 5% strength and above should only be used by men 18 years of age
or older, who experience thinning of the hair or signs of baldness.
9) How does regular strength differ from extra
strength Minoxidil? Extra strength contains 5% Minoxidil instead
of 2%, which has been proven to grow back hair faster then the 2% strength.
Results may be seen as fast as 2 months!!! It may also be more likely to
cause scalp irritation and discomfort. See a doctor if this occurs.
10) Will Minoxidil work for me? The
amount of regrowth is different for each person, not everyone will respond
to the Minoxidil solution, however this is a very small percentage.
11) What if I miss a dose? Try to
be consistent in applying the solution twice a day during the same times for
best results. If a dose is missed, continue with your next dose, and do not
apply an extra dose.
12) Can I use Minoxidil more then twice a day
for faster and better results? No. The Minoxidil will not work
any better or faster if you use more then the recommended dose, this may
only increase irritation and side effects.
13) What kind of shampoo should be used while
using Minoxidil? Any mild shampoo which is not medicated would be
okay.
14) Can hair sprays, gels, mousses, etc be
used on the scalp after treatment? Yes. Styling products can be
used, however make sure to apply the Minoxidil first and allow for the
solution to completely absorb, before using gels, mousses, or hair sprays.
15) Can my hair be colored or permed while
using Minoxidil? Yes. This will not affect the regrowing
capabilities of Minoxidil in any way.
